SIERRA GORDA DE QUERÉTARO

Queretaro has an important extension of mountain landscapes. The Sierra includes the municipalities of Arroyo Seco, Jalpan Serra, Peñamiller, Pinal de Landa de Matamoros and Amoles.

The saw queretana offers many attractions such as ecotourism experience. You can camp or stay in cabins in the forest, you can also tour its four rivers in the river Extoraz or visit important archaeological sites of Ranas or Toluquilla surrounded by huge mountains.

A more attractive are the missions of the Sierra, with its colonial churches that are declared by UNESCO in 2003 as World Cultural Heritage. There are five missions founded by Fray Junipero Serra.

The five missions are:

Mission Tilaco
Mission Tancoyol.
